Frequently Asked Questions

Questions from artists/gallery exhibits

I am an artist. How can I be considered to exhibit at Hartford Fine Art?

We usually schedule our shows a year in advance. We are constantly looking for artists who work in subjects and mediums we feel are appropriate to our area and our customers. If you or your group would like to be considered, please email some representative photos in jpeg format, a short bio of yourself or your group and specific preference to time of year to gallery@hartfordfineart.com

We are an artist collective or group. Do you ever have group shows in your gallery? How may our group be considered?

We usually schedule our shows a year in advance. We are constantly looking for artists who work in subjects and mediums we feel are appropriate to our area and our customers. If you or your group would like to be considered, please email some representative photos in jpeg format, a short bio of yourself or your group and specific preference to time of year to gallery@hartfordfineart.com.

I am an artist. I lecture, demonstrate, or hold workshops on painting techniques in specific mediums. How can I schedule a time to hold one of my events at your gallery?

We maintain a list of artists and art lovers who have expressed interest in lectures and demonstrations on fine art techniques. We welcome professional artists and instructors who can demonstrate or lecture on their process and techniques. Call us so we may discuss your specifics and schedule. Call (860) 528-1409 for more information.

I am looking to host a small event. Your gallery would be a great environment to hold it. Do you rent out your gallery space for this type of thing?

Yes, our gallery is a bright, airy space filled with plenty of natural light. It is ideal for holding small business gatherings of less than 100 people. We have easy access from all major highways going into and out of the City of Hartford and have plenty of on-premise free parking. Hartford Fine Art is completely handicap accessible. In addition to business gatherings, the gallery would be perfect for networking groups, lectures, demonstrations and organizational meetings. Questions on custom framing, costs, delivery:

How much does framing cost?

This is one of the most common questions we get and it’s the most difficult to answer. Because picture framing is a custom product, it is based on your style, color palette, and your personal tastes in decorating. And this is only a few things our designers consider when helping customers choose their framing. Price can also be a consideration, but until the actual components (such as size, moulding, mat type, glass type, mounting) are chosen, giving you an actual price is almost impossible. It is similar to asking a builder, “How much will a new kitchen cost?” without first deciding upon a design, appliances, countertops, etc.

Can I get a price quote for framing over the phone?

As in the answer above, framing components vary and until those are chosen, giving prices over the phone is difficult at best. We can give generalities or price ranges based on a conversation input, but these may be inaccurate and vary widely. The best way to get pricing is to come in and sit down with one of our designers. There is never an obligation.

How long does it take to get something framed?

Generally, 2-3 weeks However this depends on the size of the job and its complexity. A customer may have a small piece with glass and double mat it might take less than a week. On the other hand, if one or more of the components has to be ordered, it may take three.

Can you come to my home or office for an art consultation?

This is what we do best. We can look over your spaces to get an idea of decorating style, color palette, size of the walls, etc then speak with you about the art types you prefer, your vision for how you’d like the spaces to look and your budget. From here, we take this information and formulate an art plan from your input and budget. We will modify the plan anyway you would like and once approved, procure/commission the art, then frame, deliver and install it for you.

Can you deliver my framing and help me hang it?

If we framed a piece for you, we can help you hang it and will do this at no charge. However, if you’ve just moved into town or just have many things to hang, we can also for that for you. We can give you an estimate based on what you would like us to hang or assemble. Call us at 860-528-1409 or email: info@hartfordfineart.com.

Now that its framed, it won’t fit in my vehicle. Do you offer delivery on oversized items?

Absolutely, we have a large cargo van that can easily hold very large items. We ask that you make arrangements with us so we may work our schedule around yours.
